Fan Sites:
The Bob Cookson Site - A site based around Eastbourne, England. Massive collection of lantern photos and also gives a history of street lighting in a typical town.
James Hooker's Lamp Site - A site showing lots of different types of lamps, from old to new - they all can be seen here.
Tim's Site - A site with loads of information and photos about various street lighting companies in the UK.
Simon's Site - Another site with loads of information. Has a lot about older lanterns as well.
Chris' Site - A site featuring many different types of GLS lamp, including flickering candles, projector lamps and theatre lamps. I can't remember the link off hand but if you wish to see this site, visit Bob's site at the top as his site also has this link on it.
Lamp/Street Light sites (You may need to refresh your browser to see them correctly):
Philips - Two pages in two different parts of the site. It was really difficult finding lantern pages on this site. See their 'newer' lanterns here, and their older lanterns here.
Urbis (also known as Schreder in some European countries)
General Electric Nothing about street lighting that I could see, but somewhere on this site is a virtual 'lighting designer'. I found this great fun! My only regret is that you can't put SON low-bays in a living room! Why?
Miscellaneous Sites
How Stuff Works - A site crammed with information on how nearly everything works. There's even (although not directly related to this site) a short film about what a TV looks like inside using a large hammer!)
